Sweet and Pungent Sauce

(3 cups)

1 9-ounce can crushed pineapple
1/2 cup vinegar
1/2 cup finely chopped green pepper
1/2 cup water
1 teaspoon Sweet 'N LowÒ Brown granulated sugar substitute
2 tablespoons cornstarch
1 teaspoon salt or 1 tablespoon soy sauce
1 clove garlic, crushed

Place all the ingredients in a pan except for the cornstarch. Bring to a boil and stir in the cornstarch made into a paste with a little cold water. Boil 1 minute. Best if made in advance and reheated before serving. For chicken, spare ribs or other pork dishes.
